Why Orion, the Real-time Data Network™, should be your IoT network partner
Oct 11 2022
Faster, more affordable, and more reliable than anything else.
Smarter Technologies’ Orion, the Real-time Data Network™, is changing the landscape of utilities monitoring. Acting as a fast, easily configurable, and affordable network option, Orion is also simple to deploy and endlessly scalable by design. Orion delivers the most advanced system of its kind for monitoring water, wastewater, environmental systems, and others.
What makes Orion the best IoT network?
Orion is a proprietary, low-power, ultra-narrow band radio system. Orion typically transmits every two minutes, even for devices with a 15-year field life. Other network solutions like GSM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Sigfox, LoRaWAN, and ZigBee struggle to compete either technically or commercially with Orion.
Orion has highly effective signal penetration, which is why it has been deployed widely in many sectors, which include bad signal environments. This makes it ideal for hard-to-reach places, such as underground water meters or sewage systems.
Orion’s patent-pending technologies enable large data transmissions. Message sizes of around 20KBs are common. The protocol is very power efficient.
What makes Orion’s technology superior?
Orion has three transmission modes for different data types, which means it is a very flexible two-way communications system. The protocol provides for reliable communications and is highly resistant to interruptions, such as congestion and jamming.
Orion is plug and play, there is no network organisation or planning required. Where possible the Orion network uses solar powered gateways in the drive towards a green net zero network.
Orion is an entirely UK designed-and-built technology. This complete solution, from the devices to the network, is seamlessly managed in the cloud.
