A simple solution for flammable refrigerant gas
Feb 12 2020
If you are a user or supplier of refrigeration equipment you will be very aware of the progressing legislations driving the transition to refrigerant gases with a lower Global Warming Potential (GWP). The practice and use of the new refrigerant gases offers a more planet friendly solution but they also introduce other safety issues for the equipment and its placement. The new refrigerant gases like R290, R600, R32, R1234, Ammonia are flammable or semi-flammable and CO2 an Asphyxia. The flammability needs careful consideration as to where the equipment is fitted especially within a confined space. A confined space with the refrigeration equipment fitted and charged with a flammable gas or Asphyxiator now becomes a Hazardous Area requiring a gas detection system of some form to meet worker safety legislation.
SGX offer a large range refrigerant gas sensors using Catalytic, Electrochemical and NDIR infrared technology which offer the simple low maintenance solution for use in refrigerant gas leakage detection and flammable Lower Explosive Limit monitoring solutions for hazardous areas. Please visit the SGX gas sensor selector page it will help you decide the most suitable sensor for your application.
If you are a manufacturer of refrigeration equipment that is being refilled or filled with the new low GWP flammable gases and require more information on the SGX refrigeration gas sensor solutions then please contact one of our knowledgeable sales team or our network of local distributors visit the SGX website or email the sales team.
