35 Years of Instrument Protection
Mar 08 2012
Polyformes (UK), celebrated 35 years on the 1st of March this year, and has supplyed instrument manufacturers and distributors with bespoke foam inserts in cases, cartons and crates.
The Bedfordshire company was established in 1977 to optimise sales of what was then still a relatively new material – closed cell expanded polyethylene - a flexible cushioning foam.
With excellent cushioning properties, pe foam is used extensively in the packaging industry to protect goods during transit and in the field. Unlike polystyrene, it has multi-drop recovery capability so can protect products more than once if they are subject to rough handling.
Polyformes is able to design packaging and handling solutions that will give the most suitable performance for the required purpose and product, encompassing long term protection, added value, ease of use, reliability and value for money.
This material isn’t used solely for packaging however, but for a variety of applications – industrial knee pads, army helmet trauma liners, theatre props, museum displays, camping mats and medical neck collars to name but a few. The engineering world utilises pe foam within the industry in terms of specialist shapes and formes as well as lineside assembly totes which enable a 100% correct build on time.
