SPIE Photonics West exhibition in San Francisco, USA
Feb 08 2013
Merck (Germany) will participate in the SPIE Photonics West exhibition from February 5 to 7, 2013 in San Francisco, California, USA. Merck will be presenting new material developments for the optics and photonics industry, with a focus on the Patinal and Optipur product ranges. Marketing and sales specialists will be available to present products and address any questions at the Merck exhibition stand (South Hall, Booth 2408).
The Patinal brand stands for a range of PVD (physical vapour deposition) materials specifically developed for the reliable production of complex optical thin-film systems. Apart from fluorides, oxides, sulphides and metals, the Patinal product range also offers a set of special substances with low, intermediate and high refractive indices, low absorption, low fluorescence, a very wide transparency range and good environmental stability. Patinal materials cover a wavelength range from 193 nm to approximately 15 µm.
The WR Patinal product range for hydro- and oleophobic coatings was extended to meet the demanding requirements on touch screens for the smartphone and tablet market as well as for the automotive sector: abrasion resistance, smooth touch and feel and easy-to-clean surfaces. WR Patinal provides quick fingerprint removal and excellent operational comfort. WR Patinal coating materials distinguish themselves by a sustainable low sliding and low contact angle, resulting in smooth, clean and highly responsive surfaces.
Optipur materials are high-purity inorganic compounds produced in DQS- and DIN-ISOcertified processes for the reliable production of single crystals. Fields of application are e.g. high-resolution imaging techniques in nuclear medicine or high-transparency lenses for DUV and VUV laser lithography applications.
Titanium Oxide X Patinal is a crystalline form of Ti3O5. It is characterised by lowest possible outgassing, low fine fractions and very low spitting, and is the best possible starting material for producing TiO2 thin films. Compared to other titanium oxides, Titanium Oxide X Patinal evaporates most congruently throughout the coating process, resulting in a stable refractive index.
In 2012, Merck appointed Vacuum Solutions Group, Inc. (VSG) of New Jersey and Canada Analytical & Process Technologies (CAPT) of Toronto as new distributors. They distribute the Patinal products for the U.S. East Coast and for Canada, respectively. They join the team of three other Merck distributors, EMCO, Ultimate Index and Capitol Scientific, in providing customers with fast and efficient service.
