New LED Analyser for Use in Multiple Applications

The creation of multi-element LED arrays – arrangements of several LED chips emitting at different wavelengths – makes it possible to develop very compact and cost-effective optical analysers of chemical composition of liquid, solid, granular materials, films etc. Driving LED chips independently in sequence with short current pulses enables scanning of a certain spectral range and estimating absorption of an analyte at several wavelengths simultaneously.

Prototypes of the LED Analyser LA-1T, from LED Microsensor NT (Russia), oriented for initial experiments with absorption measurements of different materials at 8 wavelengths in the IR range 1.3 – 2.3 µm were developed. It is formed in a single body that includes optical and electronic modules. The Analyser incorporates ZigBee wireless data transmission module and battery power supply for autonomous operation.

LED Analyser is intended to be used as an evaluation tool for the following applications: Paper moisture control; Plastic thickness detection; Water concentration measurement in cut-oil and oil products, with possibility to define ratio of light and heavy hydrocarbons; Analysis of biomaterials for medical purposes (concentration of sugar in blood, urine etc.); Express analysis of food – defining deviations from the normal parameters judged by the absorption properties.

LED Microsensor NT are exhibiting at SENSOR+TEST 2016, Hall 1, Stand 1-661.
