Humidity and contamination resistant VOC detectors
Jun 13 2018
Leading the way in photoionisation detection (PID), ION Science offers a range of handheld, fixed and personal instruments and PID sensors for the fast, accurate detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) across a number of industries and applications.
A common frequently asked question is...
“can humidity interference affect my photoionisation detector (PID) results?”
Like many sensors and measurement instrumentation, traditional PIDs can indeed be affected by the environmental conditions i.e. dust, dirt and in particular, humidity. Humidity can disrupt PID measurements in two ways, leading to false low or conversely high readings.
Renowned for its proven resistance to humidity and contamination, the company’s advanced, patented Fence Electrode technology can be found within its range of MiniPID sensors and PID instruments, making it ideal for extended operation in harsh environments.
Robust and reliable, the popular Tiger handheld VOC detector provides the widest measurement range on the market of 1ppb to 20,000ppm. The instrument has a fast response time of just two seconds, and is as quick to clear down.
The TigerLT handheld VOC detector is an entry-level PID with worldwide intrinsically safe certification for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, and is ideal for environmental surveys.
The Tiger Select handheld detector provides for rapid, accurate detection of benzene and total aromatic compounds (TACs). An ION pre-filter tube can be easily attached to ensure fast, selective measurement of benzene.
As the world’s first truly selective continuous, wall-mounted benzene monitor, Titan has already proven to be a real game changer for the petrochemical industry. It is highly sensitive and capable of detecting benzene levels down to 100 parts per billion (ppb) and up to 20 parts per million (ppm).
The Falco series of fixed continuous VOC detectors help ensure the on-going protection of workers operating in potentially hazardous industrial environments. The instrument’s typhoon technology prevents condensation forming on the sensor and removes the risk of the system short circuiting.
Cub is the world’s smallest and lightest personal VOC detector. With market-leading ppb sensitivity, Cub features an audible, vibrating and flashing LED alarm designed to give workers an early warning of exposure to hazardous gases. A Cub TAC model is also available for TACs and benzene.
