Canada Welcomes the Mercury World!
Sep 17 2010
It is with great pleasure that we invite the world to the 10th International Conference on Mercury as a Global Pollutant (ICMGP) to be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada from July 24-29, 2011. The ICMGP the preeminent international forum for discussion of science and policy related to mercury in the environment. With recent meetings attracting many hundreds (9th ICMGP in China) to over a thousand conferees (8th ICMGP in the USA), this meeting is the venue to present your important findings and to hear about the most recent and important advances in mercury research. The theme for the 10th ICMGP is Air, Land, Sea, and Me. Our wish is to provide a forum for the exploration of the linkages mercury sources to the environment, mercury fate and transport processes in the landscape and in the oceans, and ultimately the impact to humans and wildlife. Current issues such as climate change and new regulatory frameworks will certainly emerge as key topics for presentation and discussion.
We look forward to welcoming you to Canada and to the spectacular hospitality of this maritime province of Nova Scotia, where the heritage of the sea runs deep. The marine fishery is a mainstay of the provincial economy and deeply embedded in regional heritage and the global mercury problem has touched this region directly.
