Green Skills Crucial for Sustainable UK Economy
Mar 13 2012
Green Energy Parks’ (UK) Managing Director, Chris Williams, speaks in response to the Government’s £3.5million announcement to support green skills training:
“The Government’s recent Green Deal apprenticeship funding boost is a welcome development for the industry, at a time when UK unemployment is 8.4% - a 16 year high. Renewables developers have a vital role to play in opening up new job opportunities and ensuring that our economy is equipped for a sustainable future.
“Progress towards a low-carbon economy must take place both at the grassroots level through improving household efficiency, and also through renewables expansion to generate more green energy. We are proud that EnergyPark Peterborough will provide more than 100 skilled green jobs and over 300 in construction, at the same time as generating enough renewable energy to power 60,000 homes.”
