Next generation environmental data logger
Jul 15 2011
Since it was first launched in 2007 the Web Logger from Envirologger (UK) has become one of the most successful environmental data logging packages on the market. Over 400 units are now in operation across Europe and Africa providing reliable data capture with remote control and diagnostics capability, reducing the cost of monitoring and improving the quality of data.
Building on the success of its predecessor, the second generation (G2) Web Logger is now available, taking data capture and network management to a new level.
The G2 offers up to 255 channels of data, each one of which can be specified with a different communication frequency and data averaging rate, and memory capacity has been increased to 2GB on a micro SD card providing years of on-board data backup.
In addition to pulse and analog, the G2 is now able to accept inputs from sensors and analysers in a wide variety of communication methods including SDI12, RS232, RS485, Ethernet, USB, and WiFi. XBee radio nodes plus longer range radio frequencies are now also supported and new cellular modem options include faster 3G and an optional GPS locator.
Expressing his delight with the new logger, Managing Director Jim Mills says: "We are now able to exploit the benefits of wireless communications between monitoring locations and the logger, and between the logger and the internet. In addition, the G2 ’pushes’ data to our web servers so that users are able to view live data 24/7.
Further advantages include user-defined automatic text and email alarm functions and in order to make these advantages available to as many people as possible, we now offer trade-in allowances to anyone with an older logger."
Typical applications for the Web Logger include those for which live access to field data is required - air quality monitoring, traffic monitoring, water monitoring, noise monitoring, process monitoring, weather monitoring and more.
