RETech export initiative presents its range of services at Entsorga-Enteco 2009

Together with the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the German Federal Environment Agency will be staging a presentation at a joint information stand at Entsorga-Enteco — the international trade fair for recycling and environmental technology. The fair will take place in Cologne from 27th to 30th October 2009, and the presentation will focus on the participants’ activities in relation to the export initiative Recycling and Efficiency Technologies (RETech). The aim of this initiative by the Ministry for the Environment is to collaborate with a network of participants from industry, the public authorities and the universities to raise waste management standards outside of Germany, especially in emerging and developing countries. It also aims to promote support for, and optimise the networking of, German agencies involved in technology export and know-how transfer . The Federal Environment Agency will also be presenting examples of best practices and exhibits featuring the utilisation of biogas and on phosphate recycling.

Complete information about the initiative can be found at www.retech-germany.net. RETech has also put together a comprehensive informational program featuring presentations and podium discussions with experts. The events will take place directly at the stand on a separate podium. Subject areas include foreign markets, adapted technology and international markets, support, know-how transfer, the future of waste management and the work of RETech itself.

The various subject areas will feature a range of events, including podium discussions about composting and fermentation, mechanical-biological waste treatment, waste incineration and landfill. Other discussions will cover experiences with know-how transfer and collaborative research with German universities as well as aspects of the promotion of foreign trade. Also on the agenda are discussions of European waste policy, the revision of the German Recycling and Waste Management Act (KrW/AbfG), secondary raw materials from buildings, the German Packaging Ordinance, citizen-friendly return and disposal concepts as well as recycling markets in crisis. Another focus of the podium discussions is the current activities of the RETech Initiative, including the drafting of a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) guideline for capital investment projects outside of Germany and waste management country profiles.
Internet terminals will be available at the stand to allow trade visitors to get acquainted with the comprehensive website of the RETech Initiative, which, as a key source of information and communication, is a basis for achieving the objectives of the initiative.
The complete programme of podium discussions will be available at www.retech-germany.net in the weeks leading up to Entsorga-Enteco 2009.
