Flumorph (CAS# 211867-47-9) Certified Reference Standard Now In
Jul 01 2015
Chem Service, Inc. (USA) has added another high purity chemical to its expansive catalog of standards grade materials: flumorph (CAS# 211867-47-9). This novel fungicide can be used for a number of farming applications.
Also written as 4- [3- (3,4-dimethoxyphenyl) -3- (4-fluorophenyl) acryloyl] morpholine or C21H22FNO4, flumorph is a colourless crystal chemical from the morpholine family, which includes other fungicides. The fungicide's mode of action doesn't work as a cellusose synthesis inhibitor, but rather distributes "the polar deposition of newly synthesised cell wall materials during cystospore germination and hyphal growth," according to a 2007 report published in Phytopathology.
The chemical compound is registered for use in China, where it was developed in the 1990s by China's Shenyang Research Institute of Chemical Industry, according to the Fluoride Action Network. It originally came out in 2002. Currently, it is sold under the name PESTANAL by Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, among other possible providers.
Flumorph is dangerous to aquatic wildlife, with limited information about other environmental impact. The chemical presents minor dangers in the lab, but people should use ventilation, goggles, protective clothing and follow all proper safety precautions while the chemical is in use.
