New environmental legislation 'will be revolution'
Sep 23 2010
According to the secretary of state for energy and climate change Chris Huhne, the government's Green Deal will change the way the UK uses energy.
Speaking at the Liberal Democrat Autumn Conference earlier this week, he said that despite facing other "challenges", the government aims to make a difference to tackling climate change.
Mr Huhne remarked that as there is "no money left", new ways are needed to lower carbon emissions and reduce the amount of power homes and businesses use.
The Green Deal, he stated, will "save energy and save money", by making companies pay up-front to insulate homes, which will in turn reduce the amount of energy required to heat and run them.
Earlier this week, Friends of the Earth's Craig Bennett said that everyone can help combat climate change by making their homes more energy efficient.
