Everyone 'can help tackle climate change'
Sep 17 2010
Director of policy and campaigns for Friends of the Earth Craig Bennett has said that everyone should try to make small changes to their lifestyle in order to help Britain slow down the effects of climate change.
He stated that it is becoming increasingly important for people to make their homes energy efficient and use less fuel, as scientists are saying that "climate change is moving faster than originally predicted".
Mr Bennett added: "There is an urgent need to set up action."
Yesterday (September 16th 2010), the Adaptation Sub-Committee, which advises the government on environmental developments, stated there is already evidence of climate change taking place.
It showed that spring now arrives 11 days earlier than it did during the 1970s.
The report also suggested that "continued and essential efforts" are needed to reduce carbon emissions by 80 per cent over the next 40 years.
