Environmental analysis news: UK could become leading supplier of wind power
Apr 29 2010
It is important that projects are given approval if the country is to meet its 2020 targets, according to a female spokesperson for The Renewable Energy Centre.co.uk.
She noted that wind power is essential as far as energy security and cutting emissions is concerned.
"It is imperative that the government adequately supports the industry both in its development and skills needed in order to bring this to fruition," the representative commented.
She added that with the UK economy currently in a bad condition, it is important that any funding directed towards wind energy is used as efficiently as possible.
A recent study co-ordinated by the European Wind Energy Association revealed that it takes an average of 42 months within the EU for new wind farm projects to be granted approval.
