Energy company backs environmental legislation proposal
Sep 23 2010
A spokeswoman from uSwitch.com has spoken out about the secretary of state for energy and climate change Chris Huhne's Green Deal.
Earlier this week, Mr Huhne announced that the new environmental legislation would entail energy companies giving warning of bill increases to customers before they are charged for them, unlike the current process in which consumers wait up to 65 days to hear they might be paying more.
Director of consumer policy at uSwitch.com Ann Robinson said: "We have always argued that energy suppliers need to be more transparent in their communications with customers and today's announcement is a step in the right direction to achieving this."
Ms Robinson added that this will help householders keep on top of their energy costs, adding that only one in ten make the most of competitive price plans.
A power firm that is taking an active part in doing its bit to tackle climate change and improve air quality is Ovo Energy, which invests in the rainforest every time a new customer joins the company.
