Rugged and lightweight hand-held atomic fluorescence spectrometer for mercury vapor analysis down to 0.05 µg/m3

Detect mercury vapor at levels as low as 0.05 µg/m3 with a Jerome®, by AMETEK Brookfield. Jerome® portable and stationary mercury vapor analysers that are rugged, reliable and easy to use. Jerome® analysers are ruggedly built and are ideal for use in industrial hygiene monitoring, mining, regulatory compliance emergency response and more.

The Jerome J505 is the most current model in the Jerome® line. It is lightweight, portable, durable, and is the only hand-held atomic fluorescence spectroscopy mercury analyser on the market. The J505 is capable of detecting as little as 0.05 µg/m³ mercury vapor, which meets and exceeds EPA and ATSDR standards for industrial and residential remediation actions as well as OSHA, NIOSH, ACGIH and MSHA action levels.

Because the Jerome® J505 uses atomic fluorescence, there is no need for a sensor regeneration step with its associated downtime. The highly efficient optical cell also requires less flow to purge the system, allowing the J505 to run at a lower flow rate and minimising sample dilution as found in other spectroscopy instruments. The integrated data logging system can store data for up to 10,000 test results, including date, time and up to 100 test sites. While the instrument is in search mode, users are able to continuously draw in samples of air in order to locate the source of mercury contamination, allowing targeted corrective action to be taken quickly.

Other members of the Jerome line of mercury vapor analysers are the Jerome J405 and the Jerome 451, both of which utilise industry-proven gold film sensor technology to detect and measure mercury vapor in air. While the J405 is a portable unit like the J505, the Jerome 451 is stationary with a detachable unit inside. The J405 can detect mercury vapor at levels as low as 0.5 µg/m3, meeting the same standards and requirements as the J505. When equipped with data logging capabilities, it can store data for up to 20,000 samples and has a 24 hour battery life that allows for extended testing in the field.
