Air Liquide Launches Combustion Microsite
Dec 08 2009
Air Liquide has launched a new microsite which offers solutions to organisations who deal with combustion or incineration processes in a range of industries. Companies operating in the waste management, chemical, pharmaceutical, metal melting or materials processing industry are already benefiting from Air Liquide’s expertise and technology.
The optimisation of combustion reduces the amount of polluting emissions and can be achieved by injecting oxygen and by modelling flow patterns and temperatures. Air Liquide solutions utilise a range of equipment which
can be easily retrofitted to existing plants or included in new plant design. Throughput can be improved by up to 44% and temperatures increased by up to 100ºC. Fuel consumption can also be reduced by up to 25%.
Oxy-combustion is a promising solution for reducing the intensity of CO2 emissions from traditional industrial activities such as coal-fired power plants, blast furnaces and cement plants. Air Liquide is taking part in several large-scale research projects in Europe and in North America, testing processes that use oxygen to minimise carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from industry. Some of the projects also involve testing technologies that capture CO2 from the exhaust gas after combustion. In Europe, Air Liquide is a partner with TOTAL in the Lacq Project in southern France.
