ENVEA continues expansion with the acquisition of California Analytical Instruments

ENVEA has acquired California Analytical Instruments, Inc. (CAI). The financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.

Headquartered in California, US, CAI is a well-known business specialising in environmental monitoring. Since its establishment in 1981 by Pete Furton, CAI has been developing emission monitoring solutions and gas analysers for applications such as engine test measurement, environmental and industrial emissions monitoring. With over 30,000 analysers installed across different end markets, such as process industries, industrial engines, utilities, and academia, CAI's analysers are highly accurate and use various technologies such as Chemiluminescence, Non-Dispersive Infrared (NDIR), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Flame Ionization Detection (FID), Paramagnetic, and Photoacoustic Infrared Spectroscopy (PAS).

The acquisition of CAI allows ENVEA to expand its product range and footprint in the markets in which CAI operates, such as the emerging hydrogen economy and other process industries. CAI also provides ENVEA with a team of highly professional and established local experts, a sales representative network, and local technical capabilities, including R&D and manufacturing, in the key US market.

Trevor Sands, the CEO of ENVEA, expressed his excitement over the acquisition, stating that CAI is an excellent fit for the existing ENVEA team and enhances their presence in the US market. He also noted that the acquisition will unlock the next stage of growth for ENVEA. Pete Furton, the Founder of CAI, shared Sands' excitement and believes that the acquisition provides a transformative opportunity for CAI, especially at a time when the US market is experiencing growth. He also looks forward to continuing CAI's growth story globally, thanks to ENVEA's global reach.

Cyril Bourdarot, Managing Director of the Carlyle Europe Technology Partners advisory team, sees the acquisition as a significant step towards positioning ENVEA as a leading consolidation platform globally in the environmental monitoring and data processing space. He believes that the environmental monitoring and data processing space is becoming a key part of ESG trends globally.

This acquisition marks ENVEA's third acquisition since Carlyle acquired a majority stake in the company in 2020. Earlier this year, ENVEA acquired Hycontrol Ltd, a UK-based company, in February 2023.
