New strategic partnership for SICK and Endress+Hauser

SICK and Endress+Hauser have signed a new strategic partnership. In this partnership, Endress+Hauser will take charge of global sales and service of SICK’s highly reputable process analysers and gas flowmeters. A further joint venture is to be set up for their production and further development. The two companies wish to provide their worldwide clientele with even better support in improving their efficiency and sustainability.

In October 2023, the two organisations signed a joint memorandum of understanding for a strategic partnership. In the following months, the project was examined, and plans for implementing the cooperation were drawn up. Having gained approval from the requisite supervisory bodies, representatives of both companies then signed a corresponding agreement. The transaction's closing is planned for 2024/2025, subject to approval by antitrust authorities.

Under the terms of the agreement, Endress+Hauser will oversee sales and service for SICK’s cutting-edge process analysis and gas flow measurement technology. Approximately 800 specialised sales and service employees in 42 countries will move from SICK to Endress+Hauser. Their customers will have access to more products from a single source. The extensive Endress+Hauser sales network will undoubtedly attract new customers from more industries, while new applications will be developed.

From next year, production and R&D of process analysers and gas flowmeters will be under the auspices of a joint venture in which each partner will hold a 50 percent stake. The joint venture will employ over 700 people at multiple locations in Germany and will work closely with Endress+Hauser’s competence centres to drive product innovations efficiently.

The two companies’ product ranges for process technology offer a perfect combination. SICK’s technology is ubiquitous in waste incineration plants, power, steel and cement plants, the oil and gas sector, chemical and petrochemical plants, and shipbuilding, for applications such as analysing emissions in flue gas cleaning or measuring the flow rate of natural gas and hydrogen.

SICK and Endress+Hauser see the importance of sustainable transformation and the business opportunity it offers. They want to provide even better support to their customers in key sectors such as energy and resource efficiency and climate and environmental protection while helping with the decarbonization of their production processes. They have often collaborated on an order, project, and customer basis, and both family-owned companies also share a mutual, long-term corporate strategy.

Endress+Hauser and SICK are committed to maintaining attractive working conditions for all employees. “We look forward to welcoming the new colleagues with their valuable expertise to the Endress+Hauser team. The planned transition will be carefully prepared so that we can continue to grow together from day one,” says Peter Selders, CEO of the Endress+Hauser Group.
