Insulating homes 'will also boost local air quality'

Homeowners could be encouraged to insulate their properties in a bid to save money but they will also improve their area's air quality at the same time.

Kate Saines wrote an article on Myfinances.co.uk recognising that by installing energy-efficient fixtures, people will be able to save a lot of money on their heating bills.

However, Ms Saines also noted the environmental benefits of doing so, saying it will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions and therefore limit the amount of gas pollutants being released from properties.

This will help improve Britain's air quality if more people made an effort to fit features such as cavity wall insulation and draught excluders.

Ms Saines noted that due to the government's goals of reducing carbon dioxide levels in the country, homeowners could be eligible for a reduction in the cost of installing energy-saving measures.

Last week, the Lean Economy Connection and the All Party Parliamentary Group on Peak Oil revealed proposals to ration energy use to households in the UK by 2020 in an attempt to reach environmental legislation goals.
