Oxygen Combustion Transmitters Upgraded
Nov 17 2009
Emerson Process Management (UK) has designed a clear approach for customers to upgrade from the company’s legacy World-Class™ oxygen analysers, and most competitive analyser systems, to the Rosemount® Analytical X-STREAM® Oxygen (O2) combustion transmitter without incurring the immediate cost of a full replacement. Emerson’s combustion analyser migration path simplifies the transition, helping customers achieve the efficiency, effectiveness and cost savings of XSTREAM O2 in planned stages.
“Operational efficiency cannot be compromised, even in a difficult economy,” said Doug Simmers, product manager for Emerson’s Rosemount Analytical division.
“The X-STREAM in situ oxygen transmitter offers unique capabilities that our legacy products do not. With the migration path we now have in place, customers can upgrade specific parts of their oxygen analyser system that need replacing; thus, minimising or eliminating the immediate need for a complete new analyser system. With this upgrade path, the existing remaining World-Class product can take advantage of the new innovations embodied in the replacement hardware and software. The new X-STREAM product is also compatible with most existing competitive oxygen analysers.”
An Emerson sales representative will review and analyse customers’ current systems and determine the best migration package to meet their needs and budgets. A detailed analysis by the sales rep takes into account the existing AC line voltage, area classification, electronics, wiring and probe.
“By analysing a customer’s existing system, our sales team can put together the best migration path to optimise the combustion process for maximum savings and process efficiency,” Simmers said. “Migrating to X-STREAM O2 is an excellent investment that will pay dividends in the end.”
Depending on the chosen migration path, there are a range of benefits that can be achieved by transitioning from World-Class combustion analysers to X-STREAM O2 transmitters. For example, a new OxyCore® inner assembly permits a probe exchange in five minutes versus the traditional hour time investment. Other benefits include improved accuracy (+/- 0.75 percent of reading or +/- 0.05 percent of O2), enhanced diagnostics, and improved functionality, including the ability to measure O2 deficiency during reducing conditions and variable insertion capabilities
