Quiet Revolution in Dosimeter Technology
Apr 08 2008
The existing CEL-350 dBadge has been available on the market since May
2006 and has proved hugely popular. The dBadge is versatile due to being cable free, is totally reliable due to the digital technology used and is ahead of its time with a robust, small and lightweight (68g) ergonomic design. The dBadge measures all occupational noise parameters, as well as the time history of an individualâs noise exposure throughout the day.
A worlds first for a badge style noise dosimeter, the CEL-352 dBadge âPlusâ measures the parameters necessary for the selection of hearing protection by the HML or SNR methods. These are internationally recognised methods which use simple calculations from attenuation values provided by manufacturers of hearing protection.
The dBadge uses the latest digital technology allowing miniaturisation of the design and incorporation of a built in graphic display. This is used to display status information and completed noise exposure results, whilst the display can also be âlockedâ during a measurement so noise level information is not visible to the employee wearing the dBadge.
The dBadge has integral NiMH batteries that give an unprecedented 32 hours of operation, and can be recharged in under 90 minutes using the intelligent charging system.
Commenting on the launch, Tim Turney, Product Manager for Casella CEL
says: The CEL-352 dBadge âPlusâ has a level of sophistication not seen previously on noise dosimeters. The dBadge âPlusâ allows Health and Safety Professionals ensure adequate hearing protection is provided to their employees using only a noise dosimeter, where previously a second instrument would have been requiredâ The dBadge is supplied as a kit, in a rugged briefcase that also includes an acoustic calibrator, intelligent charging system, mounting kit, windshields, software and infra-red download cable. Kits are supplied with quantities ranging from 1 to 10 dBadges.
TheCEL-350 dBadge systemexceeds International Standards for acoustic and electro-acoustic testmethods and performance requirements.
