Air monitoring service launched for commercial ships

New air monitoring equipment has been developed to prevent future gas leaks on commercial ships.

Martek Marine has launched Fastcalgas, a calibration service which will allow ship owners to conduct environmental monitoring on their equipment to ensure their seamen are safe from the high levels of chemicals used on the boats.

It will be used to determine whether gas systems are working effectively on the vessels so that gas leaks, which cause danger to people and the environment, are detected and prevented.

Marketing director at Martek Marine Steve Coulson said: "What we are offering is a door-to-door delivery service to any destination able to receive gases within certification requirements that includes a confirmed delivery price for a given number of calibration gas cylinders."

The green technology firm has shown its support for environmental protection after backing the recently formed UK Green Investment Bank earlier this month.

It was hailed for its proposals to fund green energy sources and raising awareness of environmental technology.
