Radiation & Pollution Detection Network

Dec 03 2012

AirBase Systems (Germany), a leading Cleantech start-up that is offering pollution detection networks, has recently launched its new product CanarIT+R. The new detection unit will integrate AirBase's air pollution multi-sensor CanarIT0.1 with a Fixed Area Radiation Monitor designed specifically to be used in varying radiation dose rate fields (Gamma). Industry analyst firm NanoMarkets forecasts that the global market for radiation-detection materials will reach $2.7 billion in 2016 .

The detection network is set for the monitoring of radiation perimeters or boundaries and quickly identify changing radiological conditions. The radiation sensor is a high-end one and equipped with all needed certifications.

The sensors are designed to be deployed in dense networks but they can also be used for easy deployment on emergency response vehicles and be used in arenas, stadiums, convention centres, transportation hubs, etc.

AirBase CanarIT0.1 measures Ozone (O3), NO2, Total VOC (Volatile Organic Compound), Particulate Matter (Total Suspended Particles), Relative Humidity, Temperature and Noise. The product, CanarIT, combines nanotechnology sensors with Internet connectivity, via Wi-Fi or GSM, to deliver air quality data to the AirBase data cloud.

Says Liad Ortar, Co-Founder and VP Marketing of AirBase Systems, "The whole world is deeply concerned by the expected horrific effects if a nuclear explosion or melt-down will happen again. We saw what happened in Japan and numerous nuclear facilities will continue to operate and supply energy and other services. They are a part of our lives so cities and emergency agencies are needed to be ready for any dangerous scenario. Our new feature at the detection network is an important contribution for safeguarding people's lives".
