ABB Unveils the Result of a 5 MCAD Investment Project: the MB3000 Spectrometer
Sep 22 2009
ABB, a leading power and automation technology group, is proud to unveil its new MB3000 spectrometer. The development of this analyser was in part supported by the Canadian Space Agency, and which required an investment of more than 5 MCAD over three years.
The MB3000, a Fourier Transformed Infrared analysis system, represents a major technological breakthrough into the market of low-cost, high-performance equipment. It will be used in laboratories as well as in industrial processes to analyse multiple chemical components in the final quality control of several common products used daily. ABB developed the rugged, highly reliable instrument, offering exceptional performance and ease of use in response to increasing customer demand.
The Interferometer, the heart of the instrument, combines 20-year proven technology with one recently developed for aerospace application, thanks to the Canadian Space Agency’s technology development program. This interferometer, which in fact is a miniaturised module used in satellites, has been integrated into the new design of the analyser. The small footprint of the MB3000 requires very little workspace, meeting the needs of today’s overcrowded laboratories. The innovative system was developed by a multidisciplinary team of ABB’s experts.
