Best Practices for Environmental Sample Preparation and Testing

Abstract: Environmental laboratories adhere to strict procedures to ensure that they remain certified and that their test results meet regulatory standards. During this session, Matt Groff, a veteran representative to environmental labs from GE Life Sciences, will discuss ways in which environmental sample preparation and testing can be run more efficiency and accurately, while meeting all the necessary requirements.  With over 40 years over waste water testing experience, Matt will walk through scenarios he has been a part of where small changes could have saved time, produced better results and kept the lab space safe & clean.

Matt Groff
Matt Groff (GE Life Sciences)

Matt Groff has over 40 of experience in the waste water industry. After receiving a degree in Environmental Science, he worked as an environmental chemist, specializing in waste water testing before moving over to commercial sales, selling to the environmental market as a Product Sales Specialist for the past 37 years, holding an active waste water license throughout the entirety of his career.

Joana Gomes
Joana Gomes (GE HC LS)

Joana Gomes as joined GE HC LS as Scientific Support Specialist Consumables for Whatman – EMEA in 2012. Before joining GE she worked as: • Junior Consultant in Portugal developing R & D, RDI and innovation and entrepreneurship projects; • Researcher in EU projects developing encapsulation processes highly efficient and scalable with a high platform potential technology; • Chemical Engineer is a wastewater treatment plant, evaluating the chemical efficiency of flocculation/coagulation process. Joana Gomes has a PhD in Biochemical Engineering from Jacobs University Bremen, Germany and a Chemical Engineering degree from Faculty of Engineering Porto, Portugal.
