AMCO Clear Turbidity Calibration Standards
Jul 22 2012
Even though turbidity measurement itself is anything else but a clearly definable standard procedure in respect to chemical, physical or electrochemical methods, it can be done accurately!
More than anything else the turbidity measurement depends on an accurate calibration of the instrument. Therefore the quality-minded user should ask for the most accurate standard material available today – and this is NOT formazine!
Formazine, either freshly prepared or stabilised, is subject to changes in particle size and shape and thus cannot guarantee a stable calibration standard. WTW’s AMCO Clear standards, on the other hand, are highly accurate and offer many other benefits: ± 1% accuracy in particle size and composition from lot to lot, Long-term stability of 12 months, Ready to use, Non-toxic, not harmful and simple to dispose and Reference measurement for nephelometric measurements from 0.02-1100 NTU (without ratio mode required)
WTW’s (USA) AMCO Clear standards are manufactured using the latest production technologies: Both, the production of polymer raw materials and the compositions are defined industrial processes. With formazine, in contrast, 5-10% tolerances from raw material to production and lab dilution may occur.
AMCO Clear standards are primary standards according to US EPA and accepted secondary standards according to DIN EN 27027.
The calibration with AMCO Clear standards makes WTW’s Turb 430 turbidimeter an ideal instrument for drinking water testing and other low-range measurements. Together with the PC software LSdata it offers GLP-compliant measurement and data management at waterworks, ponds and in the field.
