Scottish firm hailed for water quality

Jun 07 2011

A Scottish utility supplier has been recognised for its good water quality and wastewater provisions.

Scottish Water has worked to cut down on operating costs in order to pass savings on to consumers across the country.

Indeed, the cabinet secretary for infrastructure and capital investment Alex Neil stated that the firm's 35 per cent reduction in outgoings since 2002 is a "transformation unprecedented in the UK water industry".

The high praise comes after the Water Industry Commission for Scotland's 2010-11 Annual Report and Draft Accounts were released.

"I have set Scottish Water a target to provide one of the best value for money water and sewerage packages in the UK by 2015," Mr Neil added, while insisting that the report suggests the company is well on the way to achieving this.

Last week, the business announced it was set to make improvements to mains in Cowdenbeath as part of a project aimed at boosting drinking water quality in the town.
