Firm aims to maintain water quality despite supply issues
Jun 13 2011
The company is hoping to ensure that a steady supply of tap water reaches its customers even though reservoirs are starting to feel the strain.
A spokesperson for the firm warned that unless rainfall levels return back to normality in the near future, some Severn Trent customers may face the prospect of shortages.
Customer services director Martin Kane insisted that the country needs to see prolonged spells of precipitation in order for reservoirs to fill up again.
"While it might not be a popular thing to wish for during the summer, what we need is more rain, spread over several days and weeks," he remarked.
According to the Met Office, some parts of the UK have experienced the driest spring for 20 years in 2011, with East Anglia being the worst affected area in Britain.
