DECS Dioxin Emission Continuous Sampling
Mar 31 2008
DECS (Dioxin Emission Continuous Sampling) is a new emission sampling system which is permanently installed on the stack for the determination of dioxin, furans (PCDD/PCDF) and other POPâs in the long term.
According to EN 1948 and USEPA 23, DECS adopts the filter condenser solution with adsorbing trap on humid gas method. DECS is composed by 2 units: the sampling unit and the control unit.
The sampling unit is mounted on the stackâs sampling point: its aim is the collection of the sample in two phases (particulate and gas) without modifying the composition. The sampling unit can be mounted outdoors and it can get started anytime with no need of long preparation time. The control unit is the userâs interface: it controls all systemâs functions and it is usually located in a safe and easily accessible area. Built in an industrial cabinet, itâs connected to the sampling unit through pneumatic and electrical connections.
Available interfaces are a 10â LCD graphic monitor, a keyboard, a printer, a compact flash and a Internet/Ethernet connection.
Once the measurement is terminated a summary report is produced, in order to calculate the concentration and evaluation of the measurement quality; a continuous record of the main parameters and anomalous situations it is also available.
