Thermo Scientific Niton XRF Analysers – The Ideal Tools for Soil Testing

Oct 16 2015

Portable Thermo Scientific (USA) Niton X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysers provide lab-quality soil and sediment chemistry in seconds, from preliminary site investigation to site remediation and clearance testing.  Lightweight and ruggedly-built, Niton analysers are U.S. EPA Method 6200 compliant and allow on-the-spot screening of RCRA metals and priority pollutants. Non-destructive testing also allows identical samples to be sent to the laboratory for confirmatory testing as required (5% of all samples per EPA 6200).

With more than 40,000 of our analysers deployed worldwide, their ability to obtain instant, nondestructive soil test data can help you to make decisions promptly before samples are dispatched to the laboratory. Thermo Scientific Niton XRF analysers provide lab-grade performance in the field, including in-situ screening to quickly profile contaminant levels and determine remediation boundaries and ex-situ analysis of bagged or prepared samples. You can also monitor and adjust remediation efforts on-the-spot, eliminate failed clearances, and minimise hazardous waste treatment and disposal by identifying materials that may require Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) analysis.

With a standard analytical range from Mg through U, and optional lower detection limits achievable with Thermo Scientific GOLDD technology – light element analysis (Mg, Al, Si, P, S) without helium or vacuum purging – you can identify elemental concentrations from the most subtle anomalies at unprecedented low levels to high level of contaminated soil in real time. The end user benefits include shorter measurement times, increased productivity, higher profit potential and lower long-term cost of ownership.
