Sodar Precision Getting Very Close to Lidar Precision

The graphs above show intercomparison results between a PA0 Sodar and a Remtech WindCube V2 Lidar at 130m AGL (Above Ground Level). The experiment has been conducted by the meteorological group of the Bourges military proving ground in France.

There has been no post filtering of the data (1032 10-mn time steps data couples) neither for the PA0 nor for the WindCube V2. During all the period the standard deviation of the differences between the two instruments has been 29 cm/s and 4.8 ° for wind speed and wind direction respectively.

You can contact Mr. Lagrue at Bourges Proving Ground if you would like more information about this experiment. Phone: +33 (0)2 48 27 44 38, or email: fred.lagrue@intradef.gouv.fr
