Rugged and Portable Biogas Analysers for Pure and Mixed Stream Applications
Mar 24 2014
Biogas is considered a renewable and sustainable energy source, and therefore it is of great interest worldwide. Biogas analysis depends largely upon its composition; that differs with the origin of the organic material used for the anaerobic digestion. The increased interest in biogas has resulted in a growing demand for fast and efficient analysis technology to determine its composition. Agilent Technologies (Netherlands) is therefore pleased to introduce 2 new compact and portable biogas analysers, capable of playing a significant role in achieving this goal.
The Agilent 490 Micro GC Biogas Analyzer is for pure biogas analysis, including permanent gases and hydrogen sulphide – even ethane and propane can be analysed with this dual channel cabinet setup, which includes a 10-meter CP-Molsieve 5A for excellent sensitivity and linearity for hydrogen, as well as a 10-meter PoraPLOT U column channel with helium as a carrier gas.
The Agilent 490 Micro GC Biogas Analyzer Extended is designed for use when the biogas is mixed with other hydrocarbon streams, such as natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which results in the sample containing higher boiling hydrocarbons. This Biogas Analyzer Extended is a quad channel cabinet Micro GC, including three column channels; a 10-meter CP-Molsieve column on argon as a carrier gas, 10-meter CP-PoraPLOT U and an additional 6-meter C-Sil 5 CB column for the analysis of higher boiling hydrocarbons.
Both of the Micro GC Biogas Analyzers are factory tuned, including the appropriate settings for the backflush times for the CP-Molsieve 5A and CP-PoraPLOT U columns, and are shipped with final test data, optimised analytical method, user manual and check out sample kit, so the user has all the information available at installation. For field testing, Agilent provides a rugged, portable fieldcase with integrated rechargeable batteries and gas canisters to analyse anytime, anywhere you need it.
