Occupational Noise: a Matter of Concern to All…

The human ear cannot stand high sounds for a long time. A high sound level can irremediably damage the hearing system.
To address the issue of assessing individual noise exposure, dosimeter Wed007 and software dBLexd from 01dB-Metravib (France) are the solution compliant with European Directive 2003/10/CE. This device has been specifically developed to meet the requirements of occupational physicians, laboratories of the Public Health Department, research and control organisations, ergonomists, industrialists, employers and employees.
Based on a multiple-point metrological approach, the technical solution consists in deploying a set of “blind” dosimeters in the work place, which are operated with a remote control using wireless communication (Bluetooth technology). This simple and non-invasive device is a valuable tool when implementing new regulations on the field.
Compliant with current regulations, this innovating device offers unrivalled performances as for operating life (50h), storage capacity (simultaneous dB(A) and dB(C) measurements), counting of peak value exceeding, measurement dynamic range from 40 to 140 dB(A),…
Wed007 is an ergonomic and miniaturised housing, hosting acquisition unit, signal processing, data storage and data transfer. Only a single remote control of the Pocket PC type is required to drive 5 instruments at the same time. As it can be controlled from a Pocket PC, WED007 has thus a remote interface to set up noise measurement sessions by
Homogeneous Exposure Groups and permanently display results on a single colour screen. Noise exposure Lex, 8h is computed using dBLexd and the dimensioning of suitable solutions (compulsory hearing protection, acoustic study of the workshop, control of noisy machines, etc.) can then be contemplated. Noise measurement, electronic power and simplicity of the user interface are the main technological performances of Wed007 and dBLexd. With full openness with respect to the production cycle, occupational health specialists can now operate efficiently to optimise working conditions.
