Industrial Emissions

Industrial emissions monitors are specialized devices used to measure and analyze pollutants emitted from industrial processes. These monitors play a crucial role in environmental management and regulatory compliance, helping industries to minimize their environmental footprint and adhere to air quality standards. The primary function of industrial emissions monitors is to continuously track and record the levels of various pollutants released into the atmosphere. This data is essential for industries to ensure they are operating within legal limits set by environmental regulations and to implement measures for pollution control.

Industrial emissions monitoring requires a variety of different instruments. Gas analysers measure the concentration of specific gases in the emissions. Common gases monitored include sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Particulate matter sensors measure the concentration of particulate matter (PM), tiny particles that can be harmful to human health and the environment. PM is typically categorized by size, such as PM10 and PM2.5. Opacity monitors measure the opacity of emissions, which is an indicator of the amount of particulate matter in the exhaust gases. High opacity levels often signify higher levels of PM emissions. Continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS) are integrated systems that continuously collect data from various sensors and analyzers to provide a comprehensive view of the emissions from an industrial facility. They often include data logging and reporting functionalities to help with regulatory compliance. Data Acquisition and Handling Systems (DAHS) collect, process, and store data from the emission monitoring sensors. They are essential for data analysis, reporting, and ensuring compliance with emission standards.

Industrial emissions monitors are essential in a variety of industries, including power generation, manufacturing, chemical processing, and waste incineration. They help to ensure compliance with local and international environmental regulations and standards, identify and control sources of pollution within industrial processes, optimize combustion processes to reduce fuel consumption and minimise emissions as well as protect public and environmental health. Overall, industrial emissions monitors are critical tools for modern industries, enabling them to operate sustainably while meeting environmental standards and contributing to the global effort to reduce air pollution.
