Gas Detection
Low Cost Flameproof Gas Detectors
Jul 19 2012
Over 8000 Low Cost FGD10 Flameproof gas detectors have been supplied into the gas detection market by Status Scientific (UK), the majority of these using NDIR miniature infrared sensors measuring for hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide. Detectors measuring oxygen and toxic gases are also available. Many of the detectors have been installed in oil refineries and petrochemical plants around the world.
The FGD10A has a LC display, relays and non-intrusive calibration using magnetic operated switches. It can be a stand-alone instrument or, connected to control panels.
The FGD10B is the lowest cost infrared detector available. Since there is no display, it needs to be connected to a control panel. Calibration is undertaken via internal zero and span buttons or a keypad which connects directly into the detector.
Both carry ATEX and IECEx certification and have been independently EMC tested. They have a 4-20mA output and plug in replaceable sensors. The infrared sensors used are all temperature compensated from -20 - +50C. The infrared sensors can be supplied with the ranges: 0-100% LEL and 0-100% volume for hydrocarbons and 0-500ppm to 0-100% volume for CO2.
