Leeds to host CPD short courses on Industrial Air Pollution Monitoring and Energy from Biomass Combustion
Oct 26 2023
“If you require a boost for your professional development in 2024, in March and April the University of Leeds is running two industrial short courses as part of its Energy, Environmental and Waste Management portfolio: Industrial Air Pollution Monitoring and Energy from Biomass Combustion.
The Industrial Air Pollution Monitoring course on Monday 4 – Wednesday 6 March focuses on general management issues, including legislation, compliance with authorisation conditions, quality assurance and control. You’ll gain perspectives from all sides – regulators, industrial emitters and contract source testing organisations. You’ll also look at measurement and analytical techniques. Gaseous and particulate emissions will be covered and both extractive sampling and in situ methods will be discussed. Towards the end of the course there will be a workshop on calculation methods, something which is relevant to everyone involved in emissions monitoring.
The Energy from Biomass Combustion course takes place from 16 – 18 April and is ideal for anyone needing a sound understanding of the fundamentals and practicalities of: the basics of solid biomass combustion; dedicated biomass installations; solid biomass for electricity generation; biogas and landfill gas for process heat and power generation and sustainability of biomass supply chains.
