The Perfect Compact Photometer for Specific Applications Directly at the Point of Interest

The new compact photometer PF-3 is the youngest member of the MACHEREY-NAGEL (Germany) photometer family. The instrument is the logical addition to their product portfolio and perfectly fits their tradition of reliability, user friendliness and innovation. Being currently in the final stages of product development, the instrument will be launched on the market in the fall of 2012.

The PF-3 will be equipped with three LEDs, thus providing three different wavelengths for analysing various parameters. To cover multiple various areas of application, it will be available in multiple versions. The first one will comprise the classic swimming pool parameters (chlorine, pH, cyanuric acid, total alkalinity). In the near future, more versions will come to market, enabling additional applications in different areas and industries. All instruments will be able to read both Machery Nagel's proven VISOCOLOR ECO tests as well as their high-end NANOCOLOR tube tests.

For the PF-3, similarly to all other MACHEREY-NAGEL instruments, not only measurement accuracy but also easy user guidance is a top priority. Due to the back-lit graphic display and the intuitive menu structure, working with the PF-3 is a breeze. Obviously, the instrument is water proof according to IP 67 and can therefore be used even in the toughest environmental conditions. The unique “Open-Slot” technology allows you to measure without cuvette slot cover, thus simplifying and speeding up your processes. To generate highest precision, we have equipped the PF-3’s optics with especially selected LEDs and premium interference filters. With the instrument’s USB interface, you can quickly transfer data or update the instrument, supply it with power or charge the (optional) accu-pack. As usual, MACHEREY-NAGEL supplies a free of charge software for the instrument for easy data administration and transfer.

One of the PF-3’s most special features is the modular test selection. This option allows users to afterwards add all parameters to the instrument which can be measured, given the version’s wave length, irrespective of the initially pre-programmed tests. This function will be available quickly and easily via internet. Thus, Machery Nagel already cater to their customers’ future needs enabling them to benefit from all the options of Machery Nagel's system without incurring unnecessary costs.

Together with the PF-3, we will supply a high quality transport case, which safely stores the instrument, accessories and the reagents necessary for testing. Thus, the instrument becomes even more mobile and is ready to be used at any time and anywhere.
