New HotBlock® COD Reactor Enables Higher Volume Throughput on COD Testing
Oct 12 2016
Environmental Express recently launched the HotBlock COD, a new Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) reactor designed to meet the needs of its customers in the environmental testing market. Higher throughput and maximised efficiency helps lab personnel, so they are able to work on other projects concurrently.
The foundation for any environmental testing lab’s reliability is its equipment, and routine tests such as COD testing can take a lab technician significant time and attention. Unlike other COD reactors currently available on the market, HotBlock COD has 56 wells for 16mm vials in a single unit. Building on the market-renowned HotBlock technology used in metals digestion and distillations, the HotBlock COD reactor features the same durability and reliability that come from superior engineering and design.
HotBlock COD has an integrated thermometer to achieve greater temperature uniformity across all wells. Its integral temperature controller includes default settings for COD analysis, but can be adjusted for other test-tube chemistry uses.
COD is a common test used to determine organic compound amounts in both surface water and wastewater, thus monitoring environmental impact. National standards and international standards, such as ISO 6060, exist to establish testing guidelines for consistent results.
