Industries First Lense-Free Triple Quadrupole MS
Jul 05 2012
In conventional Mass Spectrometry, lenses are required to focus and redirect the ion beam to maintain maximum sensitivity and resolution. In ideal MS there would be no requirement for lenses at all because of ion losses involved. A first for the MS industry is the SCION SQ and TQ patented “lens-free” technology from Bruker (USA), which maintains a tightly focused ion beam without need for additional lenses.
The problem with lenses is that they need to be tuned, retuned, cleaned and charged to maintain optimal system performance. Bruker’s lens-free technology offers a number of benefits including: reduced or non-existent downtime for maintenance, no additional power required to control the lenses, improvement in overall productivity and enhanced robustness and sensitivity.
