Analysis in Environmental Chemistry
Jul 16 2012
Environmental analysis provides a constant challenge for the Analytical Chemist, with testing laboratories across the globe routinely detecting lower levels of contaminants in dirtier matrices, with faster sample throughput time. This all highlights the need for reliable instrumentation and automated methods with the solution of transferring to triple quadrupole mass spectrometers, operated in multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) mode.
The transfer from SQ to TQ can present potential problems if the chromatographer is not an expert in mass spectrometry. Bruker (USA) has provided a solution with the introduction of Compound Based Scanning (CBS) software with the SCION family of products. CBS is a significant help for method setup in MRM-based multi-residue analysis, allowing ease of use without concerns about additional training being required for chromatographers. The workstation has a library of 2,500 CBS MRM transitions for easy method setup for integrated data acquisition, data handling and reporting.
