Decision delayed over Nottingham landfill expansion

The Waste Recycling Group applied to the Environment Agency earlier this year to increase capacity at the site, the Nottingham Evening Post reports.
Commenting on the situation, a spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: "The application is currently being processed by our permitting team. The process is thorough to ensure the best outcome for the community."
A decision is now expected to be made in August.
According to the newspaper, 575,000 tonnes of waste is currently disposed of at the landfill site each year.
The expansion plans have been met with some opposition, with complaints about noise and odours being made by some residents.
In related developments, the Norfolk Evening News reported recently that some of the waste being generated in the area is being transported to Slough for disposal due to a lack in demand for dry recyclables.
