Laser Dust and Opacity Monitor for Emission Monitoring

MIP (Finland) LM 3086 SE and LM 3086 EPA 3 are advanced optical in situ instruments for continuous dust concentration and opacity monitoring. The measurement system is based on the single pass dual patharchitecture. The laser beam crosses the measurement section once only, with the Receiver measuring and evaluating the change in the laser beam signal strength due to the fluctuations in the particulate content of the Stack. Additionally the Transmitter sends a reference signal, via optical fibre externally around the stack, to the Receiver at forty times per second. This provides a continuous measurement of Zero & Span values. This system improves the longterm accuracy of the analyser and makes this instrument truly unique and offer useful features. Factory calibration is valid for any practical measuring length (max 20 m) at site and the receiver unit with 100 mm diameter offers vibration tolerant operation. All optical surfaces are continuously monitored and if the dust accumulation is above the set limit, the warning is given to the operator.

Typical applications are large combustion plants, refinery applications, cement plants, paper and pulp industry. Both models are approved by TÃœV Rheinland to meet the requirements BlmSchV 13th and TA Luft. LM 3086 EPA 3 is additionally fulfilling US EPA requirements described in U.S. EPA 40 CFR Appendix B, PS1 (rev).
