Dust Monitoring
Free Cloud Based Data and Diagnostics with Every Dust Monitor
Aug 31 2015
Aeroqual (New Zealand) recently announced that it would be giving away a free cloud based data acquisition system with every dust monitor sold.
Ambient dust monitoring around mines, quarries, and construction sites is all about giving site managers access to real-time information. Cloud computing has given a whole new meaning to real-time monitoring. Managers get alerts via email and SMS whenever an incident occurs. Regulators can check on operations without going to site. The community can be kept informed too.
Aeroqual recognises that people don’t buy dust monitors, they buy information. And a cloud based data acquisition system is the best way to get information to the people who need it most. So starting today Aeroqual will be providing a cloud based data acquisition system for free with every dust monitor sold.
Most dust monitors on the market do not provide real-time data access via the cloud. Those that do charge hefty subscription fees for the service: well over a thousand dollars a year in some cases. Market feedback suggests customers resent being charged an ongoing subscription to access their data. After all, that is the reason they purchase the monitor in the first place.
Aeroqual Cloud, as the software is known, does more than make data freely available. Aeroqual’s technicians (based in New Zealand) and their local service agents can remotely access the instrument to run diagnostic health checks, do trouble-shooting, and adjust instrument settings. This added-value service benefits site managers who usually don’t know how to maintain the instruments; if there’s a problem they just want it fixed.
Paul Pickering, Global Key Account Manager at Aeroqual says, “Customers buy our dust monitors because they want information. Having spent thousands of dollars on a state of the art instrument they don’t then want to spend another thousand dollars every year just to get the data out.” He says reaction to Aeroqual’s decision has been overwhelmingly positive: “Aeroqual Cloud has been a game-changer. We can’t make enough instruments right now.”
Starting today the free cloud offer applies to all dust monitors manufactured and sold by Aeroqual worldwide. This includes Dust Sentry and Dust Profiler products as well as the compact air monitoring station, the AQM 65.
