MCERTS 2011 will focus on new Industrial Emissions Directive

MCERTS 2011 is a specialist event dedicated to the legislation, standards, techniques and technologies associated with emissions monitoring and gas detection. This year’s event will examine the implications of the new Industrial Emissions Directive (IED) which was published on 6th January 2011.

Taking place at the Telford International Centre on 30th and 31st March, MCERTS 2011 will include a major Conference, over 60 walk-in/walk-out Workshops on application and training methods and an Exhibition featuring almost all of the world’s leading suppliers of monitoring equipment and services.

The conference presentations will be repeated on both days of the event and speakers will include senior staff from the Environment Agency and UKAS.

The Agency’s John Tipping will provide an update on the new Industrial Emissions Directive which represents the first major change in European legislation since the 1996 IPPC Directive. The IED will replace seven existing Directives including those for IPPC, Large Combustion Plant, and Waste Incineration. John’s presentation will highlight some of the more significant changes including the future critical role for BREFs (Best Available Techniques Reference Documents) and the challenges facing operators of large combustion plants.

Other Conference speakers will provide the latest information on: Operator Monitoring Assessment (OMA); MCERTS accreditation for testing laboratories performing QAL2 and Annual Surveillance Tests to EN 14181; the functional tests that have to be performed on CEMs under EN 14181; a comparison between the UK and German approach to QAL 1 certification and the possibility of being able to transfer existing certifications to the EN 15267 scheme.

Entry to MCERTS 2011 will cost £55 for a one day pass or £100 for a two day pass. This will entitle visitors to attend the exhibition and all conference and workshop sessions. Onsite parking is also included and free lunches and refreshments are provided.
