Pump technology for emission monitoring applications on show in Barcelona’s upcoming CEM Exhibition and Conference

KNF was founded in 1946 by Kurt Neuberger in Freiburg im Breisgau in southern Germany; today they are still an independent, family-owned company, specialising in the development, design, production and distribution of diaphragm pumps and systems for handling gases and liquids in a host of applications. At CEM 2023, KNF will exhibit some of their pumps used in emission monitoring applications. The company recently finished a project at a manufacturing plant in Hangzhou, China in which their heat-resistant pumps were used to pumps to transfer flue gas from a chimney to a non-methane hydrocarbon (NMHC) analyser. Their client chose KNF because of the excellent specifications their products offered to fulfil the project, their adaptability and their global presence ensuring that expert help would always be on hand if needed. KNF offer two product lines, suitable for temperatures up to 60°C and up to 240°C respectively. KNF had to take an active role to ensure that the pump was suited to fulfil this specific application, rather than simply shipping a pump to the customer and wishing them ‘good luck’. KNF can deliver various project options with different mechanical designs, such as an elevated head which can also be rotated by 180° and, insulating material to reduce heat loss, holes in the pump head to fit heaters and sensors, rubber feet to reduce vibration, or special mounting plates. For passing samples from the chimney or exhaust system to the analyser, KNF offer heat–resistant pumps ranging from 6 LPM to 32 LPM, depending on the analysis requirements and the scale of the application. KNF pumps designed for this application operate flawlessly in gas temperatures of up to 240°C. They are also leak tight and condensate–proof. These diaphragm pumps need next to no maintenance and offer more flexibility because of its connection options. When operating with a BLDC motor the pumps can be intelligently integrated into control processes through speed control, which enables the pump to work perfectly in any operating conditions where analysis is to be carried out.
