JCT Introduces New Heat Exchanger Series
Sep 13 2017
Industry’s lowest washout rates, highest cooling capacity and robust design for harsh conditions are some of the features of the new JHEX-4 heat exchanger series for sample gas coolers.
Sample gas conditioning specialist JCT introduces the 4th generation heat exchanger series called JHEX-4 (JCT Heat Exchanger). ‘We proudly present JHEX-4 which has been developed over the past two to three years to meet the high demands in industries like maritime vessels or coal fired power plants where washout of SO2 is a critical factor’ says Philipp Zimmel, sales manager and co-owner of JCT Analysentechnik GmbH from Austria.
Heat exchangers are the core components of sample gas cooler systems. The new JHEX-4 is used for both technologies: compressor based sample gas coolers as well as for Peltier (thermo-electrical) coolers. ‘In addition to our 25 years of experience we invested in basic scientific research to develop a heat exchanger that provides highest cooling capacity and extremely low washout rates for SO2’, adds Philipp.
JHEX-4 is available with four different body materials (glass, PVDF, stainless steel and PTFE coated aluminum). Depending on the application the right material can be selected. For a vessel, PTFE coated aluminum might be the right choice to resist the vibrations near a big diesel engine. Where as in certain processes stainless steel would be the right material for JHEX-4 e.g. to be tight for H2. Glass on the other hand would be the right choice for most applications, especially since the fittings are made of PVDF.
JCT participated a round robin test performed by an independent European ISO 17025 laboratory. Both flag ship products, the Peltier sample gas cooler JCM-312 and JCS-100 showed the best results in their respective classes in terms of all major factors like SO2 wash out rates, cooling capacity and dew-point stability.
‘Our development team did really a good job’ Philipp concluded, ‘because JHEX-4 based coolers are not only high performing products but also from a cost perspective very attractive….’
JCT produces gas conditioning components such as heated sample probes, heated sample lines, gas coolers, gas conditioning systems, gas converters and accessories as well as gas analysis systems for e.g. continuous emission (CEMS) and industrial process monitoring.
