QED Environmental Systems achieves ISO 14001 certification

QED Environmental Systems, Inc. have announced its successful attainment of the ISO 14001 environmental management certification. This accomplishment solidifies the company's unwavering dedication to sustainable business practices and signifies its commitment to measuring and continually improving its environmental impact.

ISO 14001, launched in 2015 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is recognised as the premier standard for establishing an effective environmental management system. By achieving this certification, QED Environmental Systems assures both its staff and external stakeholders that its operations prioritise environmental responsibility.

Accessible to businesses across all sectors, the ISO 14001 certification requires organisations to address various environmental issues relevant to their operations. These include but are not limited to air pollution, water and sewage concerns, waste management, soil contamination, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and resource use efficiency.

QED Environmental Systems' recent initiatives to obtain ISO 14001 certification reflect its commitment to sustainable practices. These initiatives include carbon footprint offsetting, a transition to completely recyclable packaging, a partnership with UPS for carbon-neutral shipping and the optimisation of electricity consumption at the company's European headquarters in Coventry. The latter initiative alone resulted in an impressive 8.34% reduction in electricity usage between 2021 and 2022.

Dean Kavanagh, the Managing Director at QED Environmental Systems, expressed his satisfaction with the company's achievement, stating, “Through the collaborative efforts of our team, I’m happy to announce that the business is officially ISO 14001-certified. We see the certification as a culmination of our ongoing efforts to create a more environmentally friendly business operation, and we felt the positive impact of the changes to our day-to-day processes long before the full certification was achieved.

“Working towards ISO 14001 required us to take a granular view on our operations across all areas of the business. This meant developing a comprehensive understanding of our environmental impact in all areas – spanning manufacturing, transport, emergency procedures and more.”

QED Environmental Systems' ISO 14001 certification builds upon its existing certifications, including ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO/IEC 17025 for testing and calibration. These accolades underscore the company's commitment to delivering high-quality products in a sustainable manner.

Dean Kavanagh concluded, “We have always put stock in the value of ISO standards, as it allows us to demonstrate to our customers that we are able to deliver high-quality products in a sustainable manner. Achieving ISO 14001 is a significant landmark on our journey to becoming a net zero business, and we will continue to strive to provide the best for both our customers and the planet.”
