NIR Process Flow Cells
Feb 18 2025
Specac supports this adoption of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) with its range of dedicated process flow cells for on-line NIR spectroscopy applications. Specac flow cells are engineered for the most demanding industrial environments, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency in real-time process control.
Process flow cells facilitate the transmission of light through a chemical process stream, allowing for the monitoring of its composition. Designed to withstand extreme physical demands, such as high temperatures, pressures, and corrosive environments, these cells ensure safe and reliable operation. Their robust construction and precise optics provide stability and accuracy over extended periods.
Implementing on-line NIR spectroscopy provides several key benefits. It enables real-time monitoring, allowing continuous analysis that detects process instabilities which periodic sampling might miss, ensuring consistent product quality. The system enhances efficiency by providing real-time data that improves process control, optimizing operations and reducing waste. Additionally, it improves safety by automating the sampling process, minimizing exposure to hazardous materials and speeding up analysis.
Specac’s process flow cells are tailored for diverse applications in liquid or gas phase process streams, offering flexibility and performance. The Typhoon™ is a single-pass gas cell for PAT installations, designed to operate under extreme conditions (up to 200°C and 160 bar g), with customisable materials, optics, and pathlength. The Vortex™ is ideal for on-line NIR liquid analysis, featuring DIN or ANSI flange connections. It shares Typhoon’s customisable options and operates under similar conditions. The Spyder™ is suited for laboratory and pilot-scale use, allowing users to set the pathlength. It handles up to 200°C and 30 bar g with Swagelok connections.
With over 30 years of experience in process applications, Specac's process flow cells have a proven track record of reliability and robustness. Utilising state-of-the-art design and material modelling tools, Specac ensures long-term operation in the most demanding industrial environments.
