Air Quality Monitoring
Bitfinder Launch their New Air Monitor Awair for Pre-Order
Jul 06 2015
Concerns about pollution of the air we breathe have never been higher. With the EU and other governing bodies around the globe imposing regulations on the quality of air in our streets and cities, monitoring this quality is paramount to ensuring respectable levels of purity. Indeed, the recent Air Quality Emissions convention focused on ways to improve the quality of our air in particular, raising the profile of the problem to a worldwide audience.
In addition to monitoring levels of air quality in the atmosphere and outside of the home, ensuring the place where we stay the majority of our time is also pollution free is just as (if not more) important. With this in mind, specialists in the field Bitfinder have launched their Awair air monitor for pre-order.
What the Awair Does
This handy little device is designed in the guise of a Bluetooth speaker to allow it to fit incongruously in any corner of the home or office, allowing you to keep track of air levels discreetly. It has a variety of hi-tech sensors which monitor all manner of aspects of your home environment, including:
- Temperature
- Humidity
- Fine dust particle composition
- Carbon dioxide (CO2) levels
- Volatile organic compound (VOC) levels
This data is relayed to an app which can be read on your Smartphone or laptop. As well as alerting you to the standard of air in your personal space, the Awair also allows you to specify what kind of air you most desire. It will then use a complex algorithm to give your home an Awair quality score, before going on to suggest products which you might be interested in purchasing in order to achieve your optimal reading, such as Smart thermostats and humidifiers.
Digital and Analogue
The beauty of this device is that it is able to integrate seamlessly and effortlessly with the existing system in your home. Already have a set of humidifiers and purifiers which aren’t Smart-enabled? No problem. The Awair comes equipped with a chip which can be installed into “dumber” gadgets to bring them up to spec.
Of course, for those gizmos which are already Smart-enabled, it works in perfect tandem. Indeed, it’s already pre-programmed to collaborate with Phillips Hue lightbulbs and the Misfit Shine among other products, allowing you to take control of your home’s air easily and immediately.
The item is now available for pre-order and can be obtained for an early-bird price of around £100 per unit. With a vintage, hardwood feel and the ability to combine many units to create a comprehensive read-out of your home’s air, the Awair is the perfect tool to allow you to relax safe in the knowledge that your air is clean and healthy. First shipping is expected to occur in autumn of 2015.
